Alfred E. Radel , 76, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Wesley Health Center, Saratoga Springs, NY.
Born on January 17, 1948, in Kingston, NY, he was the son of the late Alfred A. and Bessie (Holstein) Radel.
On August 9, 1969, he married the love of his life Penny Koskie in Kingston. Al and Penny lived in Kingston most of their married life before moving to Lake Luzerne in 2009 after Al's retirement. Al was employed at Ulster Uniform in Kingston, retiring as Plant Manager. Al also wrote computer programs for several businesses in the Kingston area. He was a Water Commissioner for the City of Kingston and served on the board for many years. Al was an avid NASCAR fan and loved fishing, golfing, and especially camping with his wife and friends.
Reminiscing about their Caribbean sailing trips and vacations in the 1000 Islands held special memories for him. In August 2019, Al and Penny celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the 1000 Islands with family and friends. Al enjoyed good food, a good drink, and most importantly spending time with good friends. He was an excellent cook and was always trying new recipes or perfecting dishes that he made regularly. Al and Penny were the perfect pair in the kitchen, complimenting one another as they prepared meals. Not a holiday went by without everyone being sent home with some of 'Uncle Al's pate'.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Penny Radel, a sister Beverly DeGasperis (John) of Willow, a niece Jody Christie (Peter) of Hyde Park, a great nephew Zackary Veith of Poughkeepsie.
Al was predeceased by his parents, a sister-in-law Judith Keller, and a nephew Michael Ellsworth
