Alice Day O'Shea

Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday April 21st from 5-7 PM.

The funeral procession will form Saturday 10 AM at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM at St. Peter's Church in Rosendale, New York.

Final prayers and committal will be Monday, April 24th 12:30 at the family plot in St. Joseph Cemetery- Taunton, Massachusetts.

Alice Day O'Shea , formerly of Taunton, Massachusetts died Thursday April 13, 2023 in Rhinebeck, New York. Born December 13, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is the daughter of the late Vincent and Helen (O'Donnell) Sweeney. Alice is predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Walter J. O'Shea, her sister Patricia Burke and her brother Vincent Sweeney.

Alice retired as a vocational counselor for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. She was very involved with the Catholic Church, as a longtime volunteer at the National Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette in Attleboro, Massachusetts. She was a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and prayer shawl ministry at her local parish.

She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Jason Rood of Kingston, New York and Maureen and Eugene Goss of Connecticut; eight grandchildren Rebecca and Liam DeStefanis, James Rood and fiancée Katlynn Shamro, Ian Rood, Jessica Rood, Daniel Goss, Nathan Goss, Lucas Goss, Sarah Goss; great granddaughter Diana; sister Mary Flood; brother-in-law Harry Burke; former sister-in-law Dorothy Sweeney; and many nieces and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made in the form of contributions to the National Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette.
