Our dear mother Angela "Jean" Diacovo (born Angela Maria Calabrese, December 23, 1924) of Kingston, NY, passed after a long, beautiful life on April 20th at the age of 98.

Angela was born into a large, loving family in Jersey City, NJ, the youngest of eight children. She received her RN in 1946 from the Jersey City Medical Center and graduated from Seton Hall University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education.

It was at JCMC that she met her beloved husband to be, Dr. Michael (Mike) F. Diacovo. They were married on April 12, 1953 in Jersey City, NJ, and shortly thereafter moved to Kingston, NY, where Angela worked as her husband's nurse in his OB/GYN medical practice. There they raised their family of five children. Surprisingly, the last two were fraternal twins, making it three children all under the age of 1!

She devoted her time and love in many ways to her children growing up, whether reading together, walking them to school in the snow, skating with them at the ice rinks and local pond, preparing school lunches, taking them swimming throughout the summer months, or chaperoning school trips to many places like the Catskill Game Farm or even West Point. Best of all, she relished cooking the most glorious Italian meals that brought smiles to all - family and friends alike.

She was active in her community being a long-time member of St. Joseph's Church and the Benedictine Hospital Auxiliary

Angela was not only a devoted wife and mother, but also a devoted sister, grandmother and she was so happy to meet her great grandchildren for the first time last year.

She was the loving wife of the late Dr. Michael F. Diacovo (1980) and is survived by her children, Dr. Joseph M. (Mary Kay) Diacovo of Kingston, Michael F. (Angela DeZalia) Diacovo Jr of Clifton Park, NY, Dr. Thomas G. ( Dr.Geneviève Rebuffot) Diacovo of Larchmont, NY, John S. Diacovo and Mindy Vanek of Kingston, and Nannette M. (Julie Ware) Diacovo, Esq. of Sherman Oaks, CA.; grandmother of Stephanie, Danielle (Greg), Natalie (Adam), Mimi, Alex, Kristofer (Erica), Ryan (Jennifer) and Mikayla Diacovo, and the great grandmother of Jayden, Kaiden and Karson Diacovo; sister of the late Rose (Louis) Sarno, Theresa (Charles) LaRue, Marie (Patrick) Valgento, Frank, Leonard, Elizabeth, and Josie Calabrese; aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a loyal friend.

Angela will be missed by many, but her kindness, generosity and smile will be etched in the memories of all who met and knew her.

The Diacovo family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff at Mountain Valley Manor and Ten Broeck Center for their kind and compassionate care to mom over the years.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to People's Place of Kingston or The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, a branch of the Regional Food Bank of NE New York.
