Anne Susan Treat

Anne Susan Treat, 71, a resident of Fox Run Townhomes the past 33 years, passed away Jan. 14 at Vassar Brothers Hospital (Poughkeepsie) following a long illness. Anne was born Jan. 12, 1954, in Manhasset (Long Island) to the late Suzanne Shaff Ziegler and Murry Ziegler.

Anne had resided in Ulster County with her husband Donald Treat for the past 40 years. The well-traveled couple resided in Lawrenceville, NJ, Pottstown, PA, Fall River, MA, Midland, TX, Plainview, TX and Amarillo, TX before arriving in Ulster County.

Anne and Don met in 1973 at Rider College and were married in 1976. Anne was afflicted with chronic fatigue in 1980. The condition led to her starting and stopping many jobs until it worsened to the point in the mid-1990's that she became disabled.

Anne's passion for dogs and obedience training developed as she was unable to work. Her social life revolved around her dogs. Anne earned obedience titles with basset hound Hubert and long-haired dachshund Zander. Anne's compassion for all animals led to many lasting friendships.

Anne was predeceased by both parents, brother--in-law Jerry Krim and all her dogs except Mia.

In addition to husband, Don, Anne is survived by sisters Mead Krim, Julie Zygmunt (John) and Elizabeth Needleman (Marty), along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be neither visiting hours nor a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, Anne preferred a donation to your favorite organization promoting care for animals. The family wishes to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for four years of devoted care to Anne.
