Anthony C. Hickey

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM.

A funeral service will be held Friday 11:30 AM at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Mount Marion Cemetery.

Anthony C. Hickey, 91, of Saugerties died Tuesday March 12, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.  Born December 20, 1932 in Kingston he was the son of the late Anthony and Catherine (Stauble) Hickey.

A graduate of Kingston High School class of 1950 and the Albany College of Pharmacy, in 1954. He served in The United States Army and took pride in his country.

Anthony was owner of Dedericks Pharmacy in Kingston and New Paltz retiring in 1998.  He then went to work at Franklin Pharmacy, Faye Drug Store and Eckerd Pharmacies in Kingston. He enjoyed playing basketball where played four years at Albany College of Pharmacy. Anthony was an avid softball player playing in the City of Kingston Slow Pitch League. He also loved the sport of tennis and played with friends until his mid 80s. Anthony not only enjoyed watching the Knicks and Yankees but loved watching his grandchildren compete in a variety of sports.   He was a sportsman, and member of The Glasco Gun Club where he served as President. Anthony was a local fisherman at the Ashokan Reservoir, which he passed down to his grandchildren. He enjoyed bird hunting and loved his dogs like family.  He was a tremendous sportsman, and cared about his family and friends who enjoyed the outdoors. Most of all, he loved his family and was driven by his love for his wife of 62 years. Anthony will be greatly missed but his soul will always live.

Surviving is his wife, Loretta M. (Charles) Hickey;  his children, Debra Sodergren and her husband Vern, Brenda Niles and her husband James;  his brother John Hickey and his wife Eileen;  his grandchildren, Danielle Sodergren, Brandon Sodergren, Hunter Niles and his wife Camille, Tanner Niles and Owen Niles.  Cousins also survive.
