Arne Husby

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday September 22nd from 4-7 PM.

The Sons of Norway will perform a ritual at 6:30 PM, and the funeral service will follow.

Final prayers and military honors will be held Saturday September 23rd 10 AM at New Paltz Cemetery.

Arne Husby, 85, of Kingston, formally Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday September 12, 2023 at Westchester Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1938 in Leka, Norway, a son of the late Otto and Margareth (Johansen) Husby.

Arne served our country in the United States Army. He was a very talented diesel mechanic, working first at Eagle Diesel and then Colony Liquor Distributors in Kingston. Always willing to lend a helping hand, if you needed something fixed, you'd call Arne. He also enjoyed woodworking and a secret love for furry animals. His family and church were the center-points of his life.

Surviving is his wife of sixty three years Ada Husby, two children James Husby and his wife Catherine of Roswell, New Mexico, Jennifer Gardner of Kingston, grandchildren Lindsey Grace Kiley, Willow, Megan, and Selah Husby, Cade, Johnathan, Alexandra, and Morgan Steinback. He is survived by his sister, Halldis Fuglem, and his brother, Harold Husby as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Sverre Husby. Arne will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Fair Street Reformed Church to support the Food Pantry Box ministry, or the new chair lift.
