Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday January 13th from 12 noon until 2:30 PM.
A service will be held at 2:15 PM.
Burial will follow at Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery.
Barbara VanWagenen, 86, of the Town of Ulster died Friday January 6, 2023 at HealthAlliance Hospital:Mary's Avenue Campus. Born January 12, 1936 in Brighton, New York she is the daughter of the late Reginald and Frederica Russell.
Barbara was a homemaker who loved kids, in addition to caring for her own children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; she spent a number of years as a nanny. She enjoyed spending time with her family and never forgot a birthday or anniversary. Some of her favorite pastimes include family dinners, shopping with her sisters, and spending time at her sister, Lela's camp. She was kind, caring, and generous to a fault. She would give you the socks off her feet without blinking an eye if you asked her to.
Surviving are her children William W. VanWagenen and his wife Peggy, Harry E. VanWagenen and his wife Carol, Edward A. VanWagenen and his wife Luanne, Laura "Laurie" E. Bean and her husband Ray, Nancy J. Jordan, Mary J. Reid and her husband Tim, Wendy S. Czebatol and her husband Scott. Nineteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, a brother James Russell and his wife Pat, a sister Lela Smith as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.
Barbara was predeceased by her son; Richard VanWagenen in 1978, siblings Donald Russell, Eugene Russell, Joan Russell, John Russell and Beverly Acker.
