Was called home on September 24, 2026
Bernard “Bernie” Jerome Slowinski (also known as Chip and Chipper), 72, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Bernard J. "Ski" Slowinski and Margaret Lynn (Reynolds) Slowinski, and his brother, Mark F. Slowinski.
Bernie is survived by his brother, Peter D. Slowinski of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, by his two devoted daughters, Elizabeth Slowinski of Summerville, South Carolina, and Katherine (Slowinski) Lee of Montgomery, New York, along with his cherished grandson, Jake Jameson Lee. He also leaves his nieces Tiffany Campbell (Slowinski), Amanda Adams (Slowinski), Kimberly Pierce (Slowinski) and nephew Justin Slowinski. Along with many uncles, aunts and cousins.
He is known affectionately as “Gung-Gung” to his grandson Jake. Bernie embraced grandfatherhood with boundless joy and enthusiasm, happily serving as an assistant coach for Jake’s little league team (Montgomery Little League, Montgomery, NY) and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Growing up in Rhode Island, Bernie developed a lifelong love for the coast, spending cherished summers on the coast and on Prudence Island. He possessed a spirited adventurous side, famously delighting in a non-threatening hurricane and riding the ocean waves during coastal storms—moments that formed the backdrop of countless happy summer memories with his daughters.
A deep love for nature and the outdoors stayed with Bernie throughout his life. Whether hiking through the mountains of New York and New England, kayaking along quiet waters, or simply watching local wildlife, he was always happiest sharing an outdoor adventure with his family. When unwinding at home, Bernie was an avid reader, an enthusiastic sports fan, and a true music and movie lover. He enjoyed going to many concerts throughout his life. Making special trips to see the Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, and U2.
Bernie pursued his education at the University of Rhode Island, studying computer programming, and later earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Suffolk University. He dedicated the majority of his career to serving as a Director of Supply Chain and Logistics. Beyond his professional achievements, Bernie was defined by his generous heart, bright sense of humor, and passion for helping others. He brought warmth and laughter wherever he went, always finding joy in uplifting those around him in his daily life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Bernie’s memory to the following charities, honoring his enduring love for nature and the great outdoors.
