Carol L. Lang

Carol L. Lang, 96, a lifelong resident of Kingston, New York, passed away peacefully on 07/12/2026 at the Ivy Lodge in Saugerties, NY. Born on December 24, 1929, into a large multi-generational family from the Kingston area, Carol’s ancestors can be traced back to the historic Frog Alley site in Uptown Kingston. She cherished the family roots that bound her to Ulster County, NY and was especially proud of both her family heritage and her historic hometown.

Carol was dedicated to creating a nurturing home for her late husband of 69 years, Charles F. Lang, Sr. (“Dutch”) and their three children. Her home was always open, and her greatest joy came from spending time with family and the vast network of friends who she considered her extended family. She also enjoyed sharing her faith with others. As founding members of Hurley’s Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carol and Dutch took great pride in their role in the Congregation’s initial startup and its ongoing growth. Later in life Carol enjoyed painting and antiquing, often selling items at local craft fairs.

Carol is survived by her children, Susan Lang of Kingston, NY, Charles Lang (Kathleen) of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and John Lang (Mara) of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Kristi (Michael) Olivieri, Peter “PJ” (Sarah) Seyfarth, Travis Lang, Elizabeth Lang, Allison (Matt) Shellem, Greg (Leigh Ann) Lang; great grandchildren Greyson and Hadleigh Lang; Sister-in-Law Lorraine Roth of Algonquin, IL; many nieces and nephews and dear friends Darlene and Brian Martin.

In addition to her late husband, Carol was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Christine (Dunneman) Roth and brother, Herbert C. Roth.

Carol’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Ivy Lodge and Hudson Valley Hospice for the excellent care provided to Carol over this past year.

In accordance with Carol’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Hurley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations to honor Carol’s life and legacy be made to Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 470 Hurley Ave., Hurley, NY 12443.
