Carolyn Fowler Washington

The Washington family will receive friends and family at the Riverview Missionary Baptist Church, 240 Catherine Street on Tuesday June 6, 2023 from 11 AM to 12 PM.

A Home Going Celebration will begin at 12 PM.

Cremation will be held privately.

Carolyn Fowler Washington was born on August 16, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Leon Harvey and Dorothy Fowler.  She departed this life peacefully on May 26, 2023, surrounded by love ones at the HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston, New York.

Carolyn was a very caring person who adored children. She moved to Kingston, NY in 1968. Carolyn was a faithful member of Riverview Missionary Baptist Church.  She enjoyed helping to organize outings and events, especially trips to Coney Island. She was also a former usher at New Central Baptist Church where she served faithfully and joyfully. Carolyn was employed for many years by Hutton Nursing Home until health issues caused her to retire.  From then on Carolyn committed her life to nurturing her family and fostering children.  She was "Nana" to dozens! The little ones always seemed to gravitate towards Carolyn's quiet spirit and pure heart.  Even those who are now adults maintained a strong bond with Nana.  Her beautiful flower garden was her happy place. Carolyn loved cultivating her plants and flowers.  She also enjoyed tending her birds and fish.  Another passion of Carolyn's was cruising the glorious seas!  The thing she enjoyed most was spending time with her children, her grandchildren and her husband Arthur, the love of her life and very best friend.  She faithfully supported him and his hobbies and would often accompany him on outings to picnics, barbecues and other social events.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Arthur J. Washington at home; two daughters, Janie Landerway (Darren) and Lashon Blanch (Keith) both of Port Ewen, NY; one son James "Jamo" Landerway (Brenda) of Kingston, NY; one brother, Ernest Fowler;  five bonus children, Alonzo Gray (Tamisha), Dawn, Tyrone (Angela) and Tawana Washington and Jeremy King; four grandchildren; Daniel Zanolini (Alexis), Keishawn Blanch, Darrene Zanolini (Aaron), Lyric Blanch (Jose'), Jordan Blanch & five great-grandchildren, Noah, Ellie, Elijah, Jayvius, Zayden; five godchildren, Fabian Marshall, Kijafa Boler, Miani Cook, Amadaya Girard and Beatrice Green; her confidant, Nicole Short; longtime friends, Eleanor Moody & James A. Landerway and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Besides her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by an infant daughter and a bonus son, Arthur II.
