Cathleen Harshberger, 65, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, surrounded by her loving family.

Cathy was born October 17, 1959, to Jacqueline (Quigley) and the late Ronald Matthews. Cathy graduated from Coleman High School and Mount Saint Mary's College, with bachelor's and master's degrees in early childhood education and special education. She spent the majority of her career teaching in Kingston at the Children's Annex, St. Joseph's School, and the YWCA. She was also a founding board member of the charity Christmas Wishes Ulster County.

Cathy enjoyed many hobbies including reading and crafting and was best known for her amazing baking and cooking, especially sweet treats. She loved her cat Missy, visiting the ocean, and all things Disney. Making her family happy was her greatest joy.

Cathy married her loving husband, Clay, on May 25, 1986. They were happily married for 38 years. She was the best mom to her three children, Clay David and his wife Melissa (Ulster Park), Laura and her wife Irene Bunnell (Brooklyn, NY), and Matthew (Boston, MA).  She also leaves behind her beloved grandson, Keegan (Ulster Park). In addition, she is survived by brothers Michael Matthews (New York, NY), Daniel Matthews (Ashburn, VA), Timothy Matthews and wife Dolly (Cape Coral, FL), and sister Maureen and husband James Ciaglo (New Milford, CT). She is also survived by the many children for whom she lovingly took on the role of "other mother", including her many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.

Greeting her in heaven are her father, Ronald, her beloved friend Janice Veltrie, and her siblings Stephen and Maryanne.
