Family and friends will be received at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church at 294 Greenkill Avenue in Kingston on Saturday, March 7 from 10am to 12pm.
His Church service will immediately follow at 12pm and burial will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery.
Charles R. Kresser , 84, of Kingston, NY entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Health Alliance Hospital.
He was born on August 19, 1941, in Boston, MA, the son of the late Irwin and Priscilla Kresser. He has one brother William still in Massachussets and his younger brother Jeff, who predeceased him.
Charles graduated from Waltham Senior High School in 1959. He served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1962 and served proudly on the U.S.S Thuban. He stayed in the reserves until 1965. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1967.
He married the loved of his life Julia on April 17, 1966. They celebrated a honeymoon in the Poconos and then a wonderful three-month trip to his wife's home country, Greece. They moved to Kingston, NY after their trip to start a new life and career at IBM. He worked at IBM for 38 years before he retired and was a proud member of the Quarter Century Club.
Charles (Chuck/Chazbo) was a devoted family man and took many family vacations to Cape Cod. He loved to travel on cruises with friends and family and took seven more trips to Greece.
He was an avid gardener, loved tennis and bowling, but coaching his sons in little league baseball was his favorite passion. He remained a loyal Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots fan, even while living in NY.
He is survived by his wife Julia of 59 years and his children and son and daughters-in-law. Petula (Eric) Deising, Christopher (Stephanie) Kresser, Daniel (Kristin) Kresser, and Pam Kresser. he was lovingly reunited with his son William Kresser, who predeceased him in death on March 25, 2025.
He was affectionately called Papou by his 8 grandchildren. Kimberly (John David), Nickolas, Jason, Eden, Abigail, Charlie, Augustus, and Katerina. He went to every school event, ball game and performance his grandchildren were a part of and loved cheering them on. They will carry him in their hearts forever. He was a man who taught all of us what family and love truly meant in life. we will miss you always.
Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice or Alzheimer's Association.
