Charles William Leimgruber, 78, of Port Ewen, formerly of Garden City South, passed away at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Friday, August 21, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Charles Anton and Grace (Williamson) Leimgruber.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 6 years. In his civilian life, he continued to serve his community as an NYPD Patrolman in the 20th and 113th Precincts. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Franklin Square Fire Department and then later for Phoenicia Fire Department. He was also a 4-H leader for his sons growing up.
With his wife of 58 years, Patricia Langstrand, he taught PreCana classes through his Franklin Square Parish. They also owned and managed the Phoenicia Motor Lodge, formerly the Phoenicia Motor Village.
Charles is survived by his wife Patricia , his children: Kathryn Langdon, Eric and his wife Dawn, Carl and his wife Jessica, and Richard and his wife Jammie, his grandchildren; Christopher, Kaitlin and her husband Matthew Murray, Kevin, Ryan, Grace, Jack, Adrionna, Brooke, and Henry, and his great-grandchildren; Hayley, Eliza, and Maxwell.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his sister Maryann and his brother Leonard and Leonard’s wife JoAnn.
