Daniel A. Bittner, III of Kings Highway Saugerties, formally Main Street Kingston, died peacefully at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Sunday November 16th. Born February 22, 1956 in Kingston NY he is the son of the late Genevieve "Jean" Bittner and Daniel A. Bittner, Jr.
Dan was a man of many talents. Starting in 1976 Dan was employed at E.G.&G. Rotron of Woodstock for many years where, at 19; he was named youngest ever to hold the position of Supervisor of Production. He received an impressive amount of certifications during his time at Rotron. Dan was also an Automotive Machinist at Brenn Automotive in Kingston before becoming a custodian at Kingston Library in 1995. He held many other various positions over the years as well as being Self employed for over the last 30 years. There was nothing he couldn't fix, all you'd have to do is "Just Call Dan".
Dan loved life. Every form of it. He was an avid gardener and landscaper who appreciated the beauty and art in everything around him. Dan loved fishing, bird watching and could identify any bug, plant, or animal you could find. He had a wonderful ear for music. He learned to play the piano at a very young age and played keyboard for local bands in the 70's. Dan loved bowling and the game of golf. He has received many high achievement awards from various local golf clubs. Dan loved spending his weekends watching the Mets play at Shea stadium with his daughter when she was young. One of Dans favorite yearly traditions was working with the Ulster Performing Arts Center during their production of A Christmas Carol to which he has been part of the back stage crew and a member of the board of directors for over 30 years. This year's production will be dedication to him. Dan proudly celebrated 21 of Sobriety. Dan has selflessly donated his time and efforts over the last 20 years to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for the countless people whom he held near and dear to his heart. His commitment to sober life has left a profound impact on endless lives around him, and his ability to connect and help others will leave a lasting memory for years to come.
Surviving is his brother Darryl "Brenn" Bittner and his wife Jeannine of Kingston; Daughter D'Arcy Caskey (Bittner) and her Husband Aaron of Leeds; Niece and Nephew Sarah and Kyle Bittner of Kingston
