Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday July 20th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

A funeral procession will form Tuesday 10:00 AM at the funeral home. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph's Church. 

Burial will follow at Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery. 

David Charles Allen, 73, passed away suddenly on Tuesday July 7, 2026. Born on May 25, 1953, he was a lifelong resident of Kingston. He was the son of the late Shirley Finch Allen and Dan Hatch Allen and a devoted brother to Jeffrey Allen, Robert (Jackie) Allen and Meg Allen Ehmann.

He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews including Lauren Betterton (Karl), Kelsey Allen, Jason Allen (Katie Fisher), Thomas Fisher (Maha), Michael Ehmann (Amber), Kelly Kozakiewicz (Thomas) and Katie Ehmann (Caitlin). He also is survived by cousins, extended family members and dear friends who will miss him and cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Jeffrey Ehmann.

Dave dedicated his life to serving others and his community. He proudly served as a firefighter with the City of Kingston Fire Department, working nearly four decades and rising through the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain and then Deputy Chief in 2013 before retiring in 2015. His commitment to public safety continued through his work as a member of the Ulster County EMS Council, as well as through his roles as Town of Ulster Fire Inspector, NYS Fire Instructor and Building Inspector for both the Town of Ulster and Marbletown. He was also a Certified CPR and Safety Instructor, generously sharing his knowledge and helping others prepare for emergencies.

Service was not simply a profession for Dave; it was the way he lived his life. He volunteered with the Spring Lake Fire Dept. for 49 years and faithfully served as an Usher at St. Joseph's Church in Uptown Kingston. His Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout his life and he found great peace and purpose being a part of the Church Community. Dave valued education and was a life long learner. After graduation from Kingston High School he went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in History and Education from SUNY New Paltz and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Union College. Dave found great happiness with family. He especially treasured family vacations to Wildwood Crest, New Jersey and family holiday gatherings. He also had a love for classical music throughout his life starting at a young age.

Those who knew Dave knew him as a humble and selfless man who also had a great sense of humor. Although his life was filled with remarkable accomplishments and years of dedicated service, he never sought recognition or praise. His kindness, humility and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Dave's legacy is one of service, compassion, integrity and his love for his family, faith and community. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered for the countless lives he touched through his generosity, quiet strength and lifelong dedication to helping others.
