David Haight, 71 , of Ulster Park, NY, died at home on July 1, 2025 as a result of cardiac complications. David was born on July 14, 1953, to the late Joseph and Irene (Redick) Haight, in Brockport, NY. He is survived by his wife Mary DeChristopher, his two children Charlene and Michael Haight, sister Barbara Balioni, very special nephew James Napoleon (Tracy), and beloved grandson, Dylan Michael.
David was preceded in death by his brother James Napoleon (Darla), sister Johanna Napoleon, sister Sarah Hedge (Thomas), brother Joseph Haight (Nancy), and twin brother Donald Haight (Gail). He leaves behind many loving brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a multitude of friends.
David graduated from SUNY Brockport as a recreational therapist. His early professional career was spent as a rec therapist at Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie and later at Rockland's Children Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, NY.
David's talents were many. His passions were working on, and riding motorcycles (especially BSA's) with his friends. He also loved playing guitar and singing in local bands. He very much enjoyed tinkering in his barns and he could fix just about anything that was broken. David also had a love of "collecting." Some of his favorite possessions were motorcycles, guitars, musical equipment, bicycles, tools, hats, as well as anything vintage. Family and friends will certainly miss his many, not so funny jokes, his childhood tales and his never ending stories about UFO's.
The family would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful help and care given by TenBroeck Commons and Golden Hill Rehabilitation Centers, and Hudson Valley Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hudson Valley Hospice or a favorite charity of your choice.
