David Paul Zenie

David Paul Zenie, 81, of Kingston, NY, passed away on June 3, 2026, surrounded by family.

David was born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 4, 1944. He was a member of the Grace Church Choir for Boys and Men for four years and sang with them on the radio. He graduated from NYU with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Skilled with computers, he went on to become a software engineer at IBM, and after retirement continued to work in the field.

He spent many years in England, a place he loved deeply. David had a lifelong love of the outdoors and especially enjoyed hiking and gardening. He was also very well read, had an enormous library and especially enjoyed reading both classic and modern fiction.

He is survived by his children: Joel, Blake, Tristan, Rachel, Paul, and Sarah DeFrance, and his younger siblings John and Ron, and Yvonne Zenie-McGuire. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Doris, his sister, Karen, and his son, Garth.

David’s humor, intelligence, and unforgettable presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be missed dearly and remembered with great love.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate David's life at a memorial service held at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church, Woodstock, NY, on July 16th at 2:00 PM.
