LAKE KATRINE – Donald A Peck, 93, of Neighborhood Rd, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024 at Tenbroeck Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. Born May 1, 1931 in Bradford, NY, he was the son of Edward and Evelena (Dorman) Peck.

Don fondly shared his memories of growing up on farms, and used the skills he learned, to tend to his own large garden for many years. You can't beat fresh veggies, as evidenced by his 4 year old granddaughter who would sit in his pea patch for lengthy periods, shucking and eating peas right off the plants.

Don graduated from the Penn Yan Academy in 1949, where he was active in the rifle club, and the school play. He loved singing his entire life. He served as a truck driver in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1951 – 1953. On his return to the states he attended college at Alfred Ag & Tech, and U. of Albany. He met his future wife, Norma Towner in 1955, at the Dutch Dairy in Bath, NY. From there he joined IBM and moved to Brunswick, Maine, installing early warning systems (SAGE) for the U.S. Air Force. After that his family moved to  Lake Katrine to complete his 30 year IBM career as an Advisory Engineer. He was proud to be able to say he was retired for more years than he worked at IBM. Don always loved technology and made sure he had the latest version of computers at his finger tips. His wife Norma passed away in 2005 and Don found a new love in God, as a parishioner at Grace Church in Lake Katrine.

Don is survived by his children, Elaine of Kingston, Ronald (Gail), of Lake Katrine, Marcia Normann of Olivebridge, and Gregory (Lynn) of Stone Ridge. In addition he had eight grandchildren: Keisha Jackson-Peoples, Nikki Leonardo, Jenn Peck, Josh, Chris and Kyle Normann, Sarah Litwinenko, and Laura Shultis. Carrying on to more generations, there were twelve great grandkids, and many bonus great grandkids. Finally, six great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Peck of Waterloo, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Tenbroeck for their loving care these past few months. This crew truly cared for his well being. Most remarkable was his angel, Austin. We cannot put into words, the loving kindness he showed our father.
