Donald J. Treat

Donald J. Treat , of Kingston, NY passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2025. He was one day short of his 73rd birthday. We know he would have chuckled at the many unaware Facebook wishes for a Happy Birthday and a hopeful wish for him to have pizza and also a Happy Masters Week.

Donald was born on April 8, 1952 in Boston, MA to Richard Lee Treat and Mary Charlotte (Brehaut) Treat. He graduated from Rider University in 1974 with a B.A. in Journalism, and we are all none too surprised that he was on the golf team.

Donald was a sports reporter with almost 30 years of writing and reporting for the Daily Freeman out of Kingston, NY. On June 6, 1976, Donald married the love of his life, Anne Ziegler. They have only been apart for a short three months since her passing on January 14, earlier this year.

In addition to being predeceased by Anne, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard L. Treat, Jr. Donald is survived by Mia, his most precious fur baby and many nieces and nephews. He was much loved and will be truly missed.
