Duane Vandemark

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday February 19th from 3-7PM.

A memorial service will be held at 6 PM.

Duane VanDemark , May 7, 1943 - February 6, 2026 age 82, passed away surrounded by the love of his family.

Duane was a graduate of Kingston High School and spent more than 45 years working as a proud member of IUOE Local 825. His strong work ethic and dedication were hallmarks of his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sherry VanDemark; his daughters, Lin Ann Wemple, Spring Mueller and her husband Tom, and Noelle Osterhoudt and her husband Jeremy; and his cherished grandsons, Joshua and Zachary Osterhoudt, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his sister Beverly Daley; his brother Dan VanDemark and wife Jill; his brother Kel VanDemark; nephew Peter Carney who Duane always thought as a brother. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Duane was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Ellen VanDemark; his brother Kenneth VanDemark Jr.; his sister Maureen Krom; and his son-in-law Pete Wemple.

Duane had a deep love for his family, his pets, and time spent socializing with those around him. He was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to baseball and the New York Yankees. He also played basketball in high school, and his friends recall that he was an outstanding varsity basketball player.

Some of his favorite moments were spent with his grandsons and enjoying long car rides.

Duane will be remembered for his loyalty, his love of family, sense of humor, and the many connections he made throughout his life.

On occasion he would joke about taking factual liberties in his obituary. With that in mind, after spending a semester in Harvard, he was drafted by NASA to play professional basketball on the Moon in the NASA All-Star Sports Association (NASA).
