Elizabeth Anne Peyton

Elizabeth Anne Peyton , affectionately known as "Bettie," of Kings Point, Sun City Center, FL, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Corona, NY, in 1944 to the late Roger and Anna Palazzo, Bettie's family later moved to Franklin Square, NY, where she graduated from H. Frank Carey High School in 1962. She went on to pursue higher education at Mercy College, earning her Bachelor's degree in Gerontology in 1982.

Bettie was a woman of deep love and generosity, especially when it came to her family and friends. Known for her warmth, she hosted numerous parties—whether for special occasions or just because she enjoyed being surrounded by those she loved. Throughout her life, Bettie worked as a bookkeeper, a role that she excelled in for many years. After retiring, Bettie and her late husband, Robert, moved from New York to Sun City Center, where she became a beloved and dedicated member of the community.

Her volunteer work was an integral part of her life. Bettie devoted countless hours to the Kings Point Emergency Squad, serving as a dispatcher, and was a long-time board member of the Kings Point Association. She also volunteered at the local Hospice Center, touching many lives with her compassion and dedication. Bettie found joy in playing Mah Jongg and cards with her close-knit group of friends, affectionately known as the Sun City Center "girls."

Bettie is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Kenny) Carter, and her grandson, Scott Rowe Jr., both of Florida. She was the oldest of five siblings, survived by her two brothers, Roger (Ellen) Palazzo and William (Yaeko) Palazzo, both of New York; and her two sisters, Anna (Kenneth) Brett of New York and Roberta McKay (Beth) of California.

A Mass will be held in her honor on Thursday, June 19, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Wimauma, FL. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bettie's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bettie's honor to the Moffitt Cancer Research Center in Tampa, FL.

Bettie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of love, service, and friendship will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to call her their own.
