Ellen Mccardle

Ellen was born in Kingston, NY on July 20,1960. Ellen passed unexpectedly on October 9,  2025 after injuries from a car accident and a fall at home weakened her ability to recover. Ellen was born to Mary and James McCardle and was the third child. Her father James predeceased her. Her mother is in care in North Carolina.

Ellen is survived by two sisters, Rosemarie of Jacksonville NC, Patricia of Fairfield Harbour, NC. She is survived by two brothers, Brian of South Carolina and James of Kingston NY. She is survived by two sons, Travis Gillen of California and Anthony LaLima of North Carolina. She has one grandchild, Lily Gillen.

Being part of a large family comes with many cousins. Ellen had her cousin Nancy as her best friend and confidant. Nancy never left Ellen alone and was always there for her. She has been a great comfort to all of us during this tragic time.

Ellen is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  Ellen loved the summers in Cape Cod. For two weeks every summer the McCardle's and the Gilpatric's joined forces and had a blast. Ellen loved to swim and won many medals from swim team races. Ellen obtained her insurance license and worked in that field until she became disabled. Ellen lived in Havelock, NC until she moved back to NY. She settled in Saugerties until the time of her death.

There will be no calling hours or burial per her request. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date. Per her request she will be returned to her favorite place, Cape Cod.
