Elsie O'Meara

Elsie O'Meara, 98, of Town of Ulster, NY passed away on April 20, 2023. Elsie was born in Richmond Hill, Queens, on November 30, 1924. She married Joseph O'Meara on July 3, 1957.

Formerly of Levittown, NY, Elsie moved to Kingston in 1971.

She worked at John Coleman High School in the Cafeteria from 1971 to 1981. She then worked at Benedictine Hospital in Central Supply from 1981 to 1987, then worked part-time in the Gift Shop of the Thruway Rest Area in Ruby for eight years.

Elsie enjoyed bingo, casinos, the NY Mets and going out to dinner with friends. She was especially fond of traveling with her best friend Molly Tiano. They were known by family as Thelma and Louise and covered much of the country. Elsie was an amazing baker, and loved making brownies ("cookies" as she called them) and giving to friends.

She moved to the Birches at Chambers in 2015 and made many special friends that helped her enjoy her final years. A special shout out to Jill, Joe and Candy, and her neighbors across the hall who left notes with the Mets schedule on her door. Elsie loved playing games in the Community Room, including bingo, dominoes and pokeno.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband Joe, her parents, and a brother Fred. She is survived by three sons, Thomas (Margaret) of Saugerties, John (Alice) of Kingston and Michael (Jill) of Vail, Co. She is also survived by grandchildren Barbara, Jennifer, Michael, Chrissy, Myles, Max, Olivia, Elly and Sofie, and a great grandchild Emerson.
