Eugene A. Toczydlowski, Jr.

Eugene A. Toczydlowski Jr., 77 of Lake Katrine NY (formerly of Goshen MA), passed away at Westchester Med. Hospital in Valhalla NY after a sudden decline in health on Monday, March 13 ^th . Gene was born at Cooley Dickenson hospital in Northampton MA in December of 1945. The son of Eugene and Nellie (Rastallis) Toczydlowski, he was raised in Sunderland MA by his grandfather Roman Toczydlowski after the passing of his mother.

He leaves his wife Shirley (Tidlund) Toczydlowski who he married on 5/6/78 after 8 long years of adventuring, and his daughters Ashleigh (Toczydlowski) Quigley (husband Chris) and Amber (Toczydlowski) Valentine along with his grandchildren Collin and Rowan Quigley. He will be forever missed by his brother Mark Toczydlowski and sister Gail (Toczydlowski) Weston (husband Bruce). He leaves a niece Meggan Strasbaugh (husband Greg) and was predeceased by his nephew Jarrod Weston.

Gene was known by many names over the years from "Live Wire" Toczydlowski to "Rodney" and "The Pontiff" for his verbosity and wisdom. Of all the names he held, however, the most important to him was Daddy.

He loved to play his vinyl records; classical, rock and comedy. He loved to take family drives seeking out the best sights and swimming holes. He was a lover of dogs, tagsales, WW2 aircraft, science fiction, and poetry and told the best bedtime stories. He loved playing chess, building and flying model aircraft, and driving radio-controlled cars. Gene was a bottomless pit of jokes and lived to make others laugh.

Despite his difficult childhood, losing his parents at a young age, he was the most kind, patient, and gentle man. He was the most lovable, and caring dad, and was known by many as a second dad-being a father was his true calling. He was always so proud of his "darling daughters"; no matter what, he always made sure we knew he loved us.

A celebration of his life will be held at Pettingill Park Pavilion, Cummington MA on 5/27/23.
