Father Thomas G. Sickler, M.S., 79, a Missionary of Our Lady of La Salette, died August 21, 2026 at Kimberly Hall North in Windsor, CT. He was born on March 5, 1947 in Kingston, New York. His parents were the late Thomas Joseph Sickler and Dolores Ann (McNamara) Sickler. After attended grammar in Kingston, he attended high school at the La Salette Seminary in Cheshire, CT. He then attended the La Salette Seminary in Altamont, New York, where he received his A.A. in Liberal Arts. Father entered the La Salette Novitiate on July 1, 1966 and continued his education at Merrimack College in N. Andover, MA, receiving his B.A. in Philosophy; and his S.T.B. in Theology from the Catholic University in Washington, DC.
Father Sickler made his First Vows on July 1, 1967 at Our Lady of Sorrows in Hartford, CT; and his Perpetual Vows on September 19, 1971. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 16, 1973 at St. Joseph Church in Fitchburg, MA.
He ministered at St. Joseph Church in Fitchburg, MA and St. Stanislaus Parish in Nashua, NH. In 1977, he was the Chaplain at St. Francis Hospital. From 1979 to his retirement in 2013, he was assigned to St. Joseph Church in Fitchburg, MA; Holy Trinity in Westfield, MA: Our Lady of La Salette in Brooklyn, CT; and St. James Parish in Danielson, CT. In 2013 Father Sickler was granted retirement status with residence at the La Salette Hartford House in CT.
In addition to his La Salette Community, Father Sickler, M.S., is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Hart. He was predeceased by his sister, Sister Catherine Sickler, CSJ.
For New York: On Saturday, August 29, 2026, wake will be held at Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, 27 Smith Ave., Kingston, NY from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. At 10:30 am, there will be a procession to Immaculate Conception Church, Delaware Ave., Kingston; with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Following the Mass, Father will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
