The Teetsel family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Monday November 27th from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held Tuesday November 28th, 11 AM at the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Fern M. Teetsel, 79
of Kingston died Monday November 20, 2023 a the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Born September 18, 1944 in Niskayuna, New York she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Smith) Bills.
Fern graduated from Kingston High School in 1962. She began her working career at Ulster Savings Bank and from there went on to work for the Ulster County Probation Department, Carpinelli Electric and the YMCA of Kingston as the Financial Director from where she retired in 2011. While working at the YMCA, Fern would volunteer during after work hours helping with gymnastics, Y-Camp and organizing the free YMCA barbecue. Following retirement, she became a crossing guard at George Washington School where she also helped school parents refurbish bicycles for the kids in the neighborhoods around Henry Street and the Kingston Library. While living in Florida with her husband who was serving in the United States Air Force, she was a member of the College Park Methodist Church where she bowled in the bowling league. In Kingston, she was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Surviving is her husband, Albert E. Teetsel; her son, Patrick Teetsel and his wife Christine; her daughter, Tricia Bennett; sister, Gail Handschuh; grandchildren, Mollie Bennett, Patrick Teetsel Jr. and his wife Kristine, Sean Teetsel, Victoria Meurer, Robert Teetsel and Colleen Danielle Teetsel.
In addition to her parents, her children, Danny, Dwight and Rebecca Teetsel; siblings, Joseph Bills, Ruth Wade, Faith Bills and Carrie Bills and son-in-law Ralph Bennett all predeceased her.
