Frances Ficco
October 4, 1940 - February 24, 2025
Frances Ficco, a beloved educator, devoted wife, and cherished friend and family member, passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 84 in Lake Katrine, NY. She was born on October 4, 1940, in Dunmore, PA, to Mary Carmela Calabro and Louis Naro.
Frances, "Aunt Fran" to most, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brooklyn College and spent her career nurturing young minds. She was an English teacher at both Tilden High School in Brooklyn and Saugerties High School, where she inspired countless students with her passion for literature and love of learning. Frances was known for her kindness and commitment to her students and loved each one as if they were her own.
In addition to her teaching career, Frances was an active member of her community. She was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader and a true bookworm, always seeking the comfort of a good book. Her devotion to children and her genuine care for others touched everyone who knew her. She also thoroughly enjoyed traveling and never missed an opportunity to send a birthday card to those she cherished.
Frances was married to Vito P. Ficco for 69 wonderful years, having wed on June 24, 1956. She is survived by her husband, Vito, sister Jean Mundy and husband Nick, and many loving nieces & nephews.
Frances was predeceased by her parents, as well as her siblings Carl Naro, Margaret Colomban, Frank Naro, Pauline Gannon, and Louis Naro.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.
