In Loving Memory of Frances Mary Scafidi
Frances Mary Scafidi, 97, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026. Born in Kingston, New York on February 5, 1929, Frances lived a full, vibrant life rooted in faith, family, and compassionate service to others.
For many years, Frances served her community as a dedicated Labor and Delivery nurse, bringing skill, comfort, and gentle care to countless mothers and newborn babies as they entered the world. Her spirit of devotion extended deeply into her spiritual life as a long-standing parishioner and valued pillar of the Immaculate Conception Church community in Kingston, where she served as President of the Rosary Society, sharing her leadership and faith with her parish family.
A proud breast cancer survivor, Frances possessed remarkable strength and resilience. For many years, she walked in the Relay for Life—walking proudly for her own survival and in loving memory and honor of her daughter, Martha.
Outdoors and in nature, Frances found incredible joy in camping. For over 50 years, she spent two weeks of her summer at her beloved Fish Creek Campground in the Adirondacks, creating a lifetime of cherished memories surrounded by family, lifelong friends, and the natural beauty she loved so dearly.
Above all, Frances was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose heart centered on her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Martha Witkowski; her beloved husband, William A. Scafidi, Sr.; and her daughters, Martha A. Scafidi Houghtaling and Frances J. Scafidi.
Frances leaves behind an enduring legacy of love through her surviving family, including her children, Rev. William A. Scafidi, Jr. and Mary Scafidi; her cherished grandchildren, Erika (Matthew) Senglaub and Heather Houghtaling; her beloved great-grandchildren, Brittney O'Donoghue, Justin (Maggie) O'Donoghue, Conner O'Donoghue, Julia Geitner, Ella Senglaub, Tanner Senglaub, and Charlotte Senglaub; and her cherished great-great-granddaughter, Lennon O'Donoghue, as well as her extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
In lieu of a repast, contributions may be made in Frances' honor to a charity of your choice.
