Frank Stephan Sass

The Sass family will receive their friends at the funeral home on Tuesday December 12th from 10 AM until 12 noon.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon.

Inurnment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Frank Stephan Sass, age 57, of Nashville, TN, died peacefully at home on November 28, 2023, surrounded by family and friends after a year long battle with cancer.

Frank was born on October 9, 1966, in Kingston, NY. He was the son of Frank C. Sass and C. Elizabeth (Fassbender) Sass. He is survived by his wife Lisa (Henninger) Sass, daughters Stephanie & Amy, along with brothers and sisters, Dan (Barbara) Sass, Mike (Fran) Sass, Betsy (Bill) Barton, Kathy (Jimmy) Williams and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Franks love of music took hold in the early 80's when he started playing drums in several bands with friends in his hometown of Kingson, NY. It was soon after that he found his passion in life as an audio engineer and moved to Nashville in 1986. He started working with a reggae/ska band called Freedom of Expression and they toured up and down the east coast for many years. Frank eventually settled for a local-based gig as front house engineer at the legendary Exit/In in the 1990's. During his time at the Exit/In he met and mixed numerous bands and created many lasting relationships. In the 2000's Frank worked at the Rutledge, where he continued to create more audio magic. Frank was a master of sound and no matter what type of venue a band played at, if Frank was mixing it was going to be an awesome sounding show. Frank also enjoyed studio recording & mixing, mastering, and even recording his own music at home.

Frank loved life, music and connecting with everyone he met. He never met a stranger and was always asking who you were and where you were from, and more than likely would tell you some sort of interesting fact that you never knew about before. Frank was inquisitive of the world around him, always questioning the status quo and more likely, ourselves at times. Frank was a dedicated husband and father. He loved spending time with his family, playing video games, going fishing, watching the N.Y. Giants, or just sitting on the stoop listening to music. Frank was one of a kind, an inspiration to many, and extremely loyal to everyone who knew him. He was a wealth of knowledge; a "keeper of many random facts" and just an overall great guy to know. He will be deeply missed by so many because he touched so many lives in his short time here. Sadly, the world will sound much different with Frank no longer in it. So, until we meet again. "Out".
