Cedar Ridge IRA mourns the loss of Gary Richard Ede, a remarkable individual who touched the hearts of everyone he met. He passed in peace and love on January 3, 2025 at Montefiore St Luke's Cornwall in Newburgh.
Gary was predeceased by his Mother Grace Burberg, Father Stanley Ede, Grandparents Clara and Charles Burberg and his Aunt, Elinor Burberg.
He was a shining light, a true original and a one-of-a-kind spirit who lived life to the fullest in his younger years as we have been told by those who knew him best. Gary had a passion for coloring, and his colorful creations brought him immense joy and peace. Gary was a proud SpongeBob fan, and his love for this optimistic and enthusiastic sponge inspired him to approach life with a similar sense of wonder and joy.
Gary spent many years living at Market Street IRA. He developed great memories and strong relationships there. It was a place he held dear to his heart. During his time at Market Street, he would go on vacations with Sprout. He got great joy going on these trips. Gary also had an opportunity to use his passport and travel to Paris, France.
As we say goodbye to Gary, we take comfort in the memories we shared with him. We remember his infectious laughter, his boundless enthusiasm, and his generous spirit. We remember the way he made us feel.
Gary's legacy will live on through those whose hearts he touched and especially of those in the Cedar Ridge IRA family. His story will continue to be told, and his life celebrated. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
Special thanks to the loving care from the entire staff at Cedar Ridge IRA and the former Market St IRA. A very special thank you to the Guardianship committee of NYSARC Inc. They were strong advocates, a great source of support and always made sure Gary was well cared for.
