George T. Mcclinton

Friends are invited to visit at the funeral home on Monday March 30, 2026 from 10 to 11:30am. A funeral service will start at 11:30am. Burial will follow the Ulster County Veterans Section of New Paltz Rural Cemetery.

George T. McClinton 70, was a Kingston N.Y. native and he passed away suddenly 19 March 2026. He was born in Kingston 12 May 1955 he is a son of the late John Henry Sr. and Bernice H. (Snyder) McClinton.

After graduating Kingston High school in 1974, he left to serve his country, 15 November 1974, in the United States Navy. This proud, Vietnam Era, veteran pursued his Navy career for nearly 9 years and was honorably discharged in August 1983. He told many stories of his adventures aboard Naval vessels, deployed on the high seas and visiting many foreign ports around the globe. He gave his parents' unique gifts and spirits from the many countries visited. George ended his Navy career in San Deigo, CA and later moved to Yuma, AZ; the home of his wife of 44 years, Mary Helen. Later George would return to Kingston and Mary would soon follow and here they built a life and remained there until death. Both shared many stories of their adventures and years together.

George was a welder by trade, a skilled acquired in the Navy and was employed by M & E Mfg. Co., Inc. in Kingston from 13 Sep 1999 to 14 April 2023.  There he was a Fabrication Specialist and was very proud of the unique patented professional series equipment/products he helped produce. So proud he wanted to show his brothers the unique aspects of his job and his coworkers with a tour of the factory, specifically, his station and craftsmanship. He really loved his job, coworkers and boss.

George was an avid walker; he would put many miles on a pair of shoes. If he needed to be somewhere, walking was not going to stop him. He was always willing to help and became a handyman on the side, he knew a little bit of everything. But his passion was music, listening to any genre, but more so playing and he wanted you to play along even if you weren't musically inclined. He was a member of many bands and played around town with his older brother John sitting in on jam sessions. As a young man he was a member of the Kingston Drum and Bugle Corps. Percussions his specialty, if you could strike it he was in. He started playing the drums at an early age when his parents got him a drum kit and he never stopped. Any chance to get the music flowing he took it and you knew he was going to pass the instruments around. His largest in the backyard of his childhood home after the passing of his brother Mike in May 2000. As a student he was a dedicated member of the Kingston High School Choir and upon his return to the local area the alumni choir.

George is survived by his siblings; Bernice McClinton (Richard Acosta), James McClinton (twin) Jacksonville, NC, Steven McClinton, Jeanette Howell, Theron McClinton and his wife Tanya of Yorktown, VA ,Anna Parker and her husband Charles, and Robert McClinton. Sister-in-law Bonnie Wells and cherished friend Latisha Wright. Step daughter Aurora (JoAnn) Sanks and her husband Samuel, granddaughters; Michelle Bond, Cierra Bond (John) One Aunt, Ada Snyder, many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings; Donald McClinton, Karen McClinton, Michael McClinton, Albert McClinton, and John McClinton Jr. He is also predeceased by his God son, Kieontae Wright.
