Gerald William Woodvine

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday February 22nd from 2-4 PM.

Due to inclement weather- the funeral service will take place on Tuesday 11 AM at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Gerald William Woodvine of Kingston, NY passed away peacefully at the age of 82 after a long and courageous battle with dementia and Parkinsons.  Jerry passed on February 16, 2026 at Golden Hill with his beloved grandchildren by his side.  His humor, generosity and friendship will be remembered by anyone who's life he touched.

Jerry was born in Kingston, NY on January 7, 1944 to the late Gerald and Myrtle (Cooke) Woodvine.  He graduated from Kingston High School in 1961 and attended Rutgers University.  Upon completion of his education, Jerry went to work for the IBM Corporation as a computer programmer where he was an employee for 46 years.  He traveled extensively for IBM including Germany, Brussels and England as well as around the United States.

Glug Glug as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was active in many sports in and around the Kingston Community.  He was elected to both the Kingston Bowling and Kingston Softball Hall of Fames.  He was especially proficient at bowling participating in many leagues/tournaments and throwing multiple 300 games.  Jerry was a pitcher on many teams in the Kingston area and had several no-hitters. Jerry was also an avid golfer and loved to travel to Myrtle Beach, but was especially fond of his Friday "mini-tour" league he played with friends for many decades.  Jerry was a passionate fan of the Yankees, Giants and Rangers attending many games and being glued to the TV watching them depending on the season.

Jerry loved being a grandfather and was very involved with them whether it was taking them to school in the morning, going to a sports event, teaching them to drive not to mention the countless meals and ice cream runs he took them on.  He was a huge fan of going to watch his grandchildren participate in their athletic events and you could always count on him being their biggest fan.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years Karen (Fischer) Woodvine whom he married on April 9, 1965.  Two children, Melanie Woodvine and her husband Rick Spriggs of Kingston and Mark Woodvine of North Hollywood, CA.   Five grandchildren, Schuyler Schoonmaker of West Wyoming, PA, Jordan Hargrave (Sam) of Saugerties, NY, Fallon Spriggs (Kevin Squires) of Kingston, NY, Justine Hill (Tom) of Manlius, NY and Brett Spriggs (Shelby) of Saugerties, NY.  Four great grandchildren Morgan Hill, Nolan and Norah Spriggs and Finley Hargrave.  One brother-in-law Terry Fisher (Martha) and sisters-in-law Sondra Woodvine, Betty, Joanne, Josephine and Rose Fischer.  Jerry is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Bruce and Terry Woodvine, brothers-in-law Ronald, Arnold, Francis and Joseph Fischer and Robert Loeffler.  Sister-in-law June (Peachie) Loeffler. Nieces and nephew Debbie and Steven Fischer, Tammy Nestell and Arna Jo Schwark.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to staff of Golden Hill for the kind and compassionate treatment they showed Jerry during his stay.
