Howard Markle passed away peacefully on June 12th surrounded by his loving family. Howard was born to David John Markle and Jennie Rachel Beesmer on July 16, 1941. He grew up in Atwood, attending a one room school house until the 8th grade, then attended KHS until graduating in 1959. After he graduated he joined the National Guard with Homeland security for six years. In the meantime he built and maintained a race car with his friends "Red" and Alvin Elliot who would race at the Rhinebeck and Accord Speedway.
Soon he met the love of his life Patricia Lynn and married her a year later in 1965. Together they had a passion for traveling for a majority of their years together. In 1968, their daughter Tamara Lynn was born and in 1971 their son Michael David was born. Howard was an amazing father who made sure that they had the best childhood, by taking them on three week long vacations every summer passing down his passion for snowmobiling as well as hunting, fishing and baseball. They would travel to Schroon Lake every weekend with the Turner's in a two family cabin and going to almost every major league baseball game to watch his favorite team, "The Dodgers."
Howard would always be in the backyard fixing something and in 1993 his main priority became building a 1934 Ford 5 window coupe Deluxe with a few good friends (Bruce Turner and brother in law Mike Leone). Once finished it was featured in Hemmings Magazine. He fulfilled his passion for Fords by street racing with one of his best friends George Boisvert and attended many car shows and growing his classic car collection. When his daughter came home driving a Buick, he made her park on the street. You would never be able to find Howard without snug jeans, a Dodger or Redskins hat and a Ford shirt. He knew and loved everyone and had a nickname for all. He drove trucks for over fifty years for Charles River/ Direct Services, going way over the two million mile mark in 1994 when he stopped counting. He retired in December 2021 at the age of 80 years old and spent the last few years of his life surrounded by his friends and family.
He was predeceased by both of his parents, sister Virginia Leone and his brother in law Thomas Thompson.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Markle, daughter Tamara Markle (Kenny Acker), son Michael Markle (Peggy Ray Osterhoudt), grandchildren Thomas Collins, Michael Markle II and Morgan Acker, and two great grandchildren Kenleigh and Elliana Collins. As well as a niece Dana Galligan and nephew Scott Thompson. As well as many cousins.
