Jalal Mahdavian, Md

A celebration of his life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 1, at 12-3 PM.

On March 26, 2023, Dr. Jalal Mahdavian passed away peacefully at the age of 91 after living a full and happy life. Dr. Mahdavian came from humble beginnings in a small village in southern Iran to immigrating to the U.S. and settling in Ulster County in 1966 where he remained for the rest of his life.

A graduate of Tehran Medical School in 1952, Dr. Mahdavian came to the U.S. for his surgical residency at Montefiore Medical Center and soon thereafter settling in Kingston where he served as a general surgeon for decades.

Jalal gave back to his community here at home and in his country of birth, where he built a dormitory for medical students. Jalal also had a passion for aviation, having had many of his closest friends from the flying community in Ulster and Duchess counties.

Dr. Mahdavian is survived by his wife Susan Tucker, his sons Jamal and Sharif and their families.
