James S. Whittaker

James S. Whittaker, 80, of Kingston, New York, passed away on September 30, 2026.

James was a hardworking man with a generous heart who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

An avid outdoorsman, James had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the great outdoors—walking through the woods, patiently waiting for the perfect catch, or simply enjoying the peace and beauty of nature. Hunting and fishing were more than hobbies to James; they were a way of life and brought him tremendous joy. The woods and the water were places where he felt most at home.

James leaves behind his loving children, James Whittaker, William Whittaker, and Susan Fleck, as well as his stepdaughter, Fern Williams. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of James on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Leahy Funeral Home on Smith Ave in Kingston.

May the woods always be peaceful, the hunting grounds endless, and the fish always biting. Rest easy, Dad… until we meet again.
