A visitation will be held on Monday June 23, 2025, at Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home 27 Smith Avenue in Kingston from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday June 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Kingston.

Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery in Kingston.

Janet (Jan) Laughlin , of Kingston, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 18, 2025, following a lengthy fight with Alzheimer's. Beloved wife of the late Paul (Joe) Laughlin for 59 years and mother of three children: BG (R) Paul Laughlin and his wife Judi of Braintree, MA; John Laughlin of Kingston; and Maureen Fuoco and her husband Mike of Kingston. Devoted Gram of Nicole and her husband Ted Himmel, Michael and his wife Megan Fuoco, John (JJ) Laughlin and Sean Laughlin. Very proud Great Grandmother (GiGi) of Peyton Fuoco. Loving sister of Margaret Dodson of Pittsburgh, PA. Loving sister-in-law of Mary Colaluca and her husband Val of Oakmont, PA. Jan is also survived by numerous nieces and cousins primarily from the Pittsburgh, PA area.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Joe and Helen Peretich on March 6, 1940, Jan grew up in Pittsburgh, graduating from Carrick High School in 1957. Following her marriage to Joe in October 1960, they resided in Pittsburgh until 1966 before first moving to Hurley, NY and then to Kingston, NY in 1970. Jan happily worked for many years at AKT Industries, then Ashley Mechanical in Kingston, but her true calling/joy was being an incredible Mom and Grandmother/Great Grandmother, and as a true matriarch, she always put her family first. As a proud and vocal supporter of her children/grandchildren over decades, she often made her feelings apparent on calls by umpires/referees throughout the region when calls in sporting events went the way she didn't agree with.

Jan thoroughly enjoyed her long and deep friendships with people from across the country; and traveled across the US and world to visit them and family. In her senior years she became a member of the Fit Lady then MAC Gyms and she and her lady friends would follow those sessions with "nutritious" meals. She was also a member of Hurley Seniors Club and enjoyed friendships made there during their trips and events. Always one to "stay connected", Jan loved talking on the phone with her sister, family and multiple friends to remain in the know and did so throughout her long life. She will certainly be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The family extends their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Unlimited Care and Hudson Valley Hospice for their superb care and compassion. A very special and sincere thank you is extended to Ellen, Infal, Fran, Junie, Yvette, and Yana.
