Joanne (Letus) Hagen, 60, of Kingston, formerly Ulster Park, died Tuesday May 27, 2025 at Westchester Medical Center due to ongoing illness, with her daughter and mother by her side and holding her hands. For many years, she had struggled to manage sarcoidosis which led to many complications.
She was born on October 29, 1964 to Carole (Mackewicz) Letus and the late Peter G. Letus of Ulster Park.
Joanne graduated from Kingston High School and subsequently attended business school. She worked as a typist for Rondout Legal Services in Kingston and for the Daily Freeman for delivery service. She was mostly a dedicated homemaker who took pride in keeping an immaculate and comfortable home for her family. She loved cooking delicious meals.
Joanne was passionate about shopping and anything that had to do with fashion. She had a talent for putting together and accessorizing outfits. She even worked as a clothing model for a short period of time. She loved to go out, listen to live music, and dance the night away. Joanne also loved the beach, being out in the sunshine, and vacationing anywhere tropical. One of her long time favorite family vacations was to Cape Cod which always included a whale watch.
Joanne is survived by her mother Carole Letus (Ulster Park) and her children; daughter Kalie Santana with husband Steven (Wallkill) and son Brendan Hagen (Kingston). She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Rylee Santana, Ellyana Santana, Xyla Hagen and Sonny Santana. Also surviving are her brothers Robert with wife Kim Letus and Richard with wife Jeanine Letus. She is also survived by her companion Steve Kimmey and canine love of her life, Copper. Several aunts, nieces, nephew and cousins also survive.
Joanne will be truly and deeply missed. She is predeceased by her father, Peter Letus, and her grandparents, John and Anna Letus and John and Rosemary Mackewicz.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to research and prevention of sarcoidosis. This is the autoimmune disease that Joanne fought tirelessly for many years. Please see the link below to contribute.
