Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
A funeral procession will form Friday at 9:00 AM at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday at 10:00 AM.
Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
Johann "John" Reck, 92,
formerly of Connelly died Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born April 1, 1933 in Burk, Germany, he was the son of the late Johann Reck and Margareta (Soehnlein) Reck.
John worked as a Mason for the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local Union. He was a lifetime member of the Kingston Maennerchor and Damenchor. John and his wife, Helen, had danced together for many years performing the traditional folk dance (Schuhplattler) at the Kingston Maennerchor and Damenchor, Germania of Poughkeepsie, and at local Oktoberfests. Additionally, he donated his time and masonry skills to many organizations, most notably the Esopus Meadows Lighthouse project on the Hudson River where he had repaired a fallen chimney. Throughout his life, he enjoyed tending to his garden, tinkering around his property, hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoying a cold beer with friends and family.
John is survived by his daughters, Theresa Jorgensen (Jay Jorgensen), Margareta Reck, and Veronica Reck, grandchildren Elizabeth Mohler, Christopher Jorgensen, Rebecca Jorgensen, and son in law, Steve Mohler.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Helen Marie (Grunenwald) Reck and daughter Maria Mohler.
