John E. Grinnell

A memorial service will be held at the Lexington Westkill United Methodist Church Friday, February 7th at 11:00AM with a reception to follow.

John died Thursday January 29, 2020 at HealthAlliance Hospital Kingston, New York. He was born in Catskill, New York on July 24, 1943 to the late Clyde and Emma (née Cross) Grinnell.

John was a well-respected member of the community, and had vast knowledge of many subjects including skills in carpentry, electric, plumbing, and mechanics. He was a graduate of the State University of New York at Canton where he served in the ROTC program. He retired after 32 years with IBM and continued farming. John was a member of the Lexington Westkill United Methodist Church where he held many leadership positions.

He is survived by his wife Eleane (née Harper) Grinnell and children; Jeffrey (Donna) Grinnell, William (Cean) Grinnell, Daniel (Jennifer) Grinnell, Paulette (the late Michael) Countryman, and Robert (Andreana) White Jr., siblings Gerald (Louise) Grinnell, Curtis (Roxy) Grinnell, thirteen grandchildren, Chris, Tim, David, Michala, Kayla, Seth, Mathew, Luke, Emily, Sadie, Victoria, Joseph, Nicholas, great grandson Harrison and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife, Diane (née Redmond) Grinnell and brother Clyde Grinnell Jr.

The family gratefully acknowledges the nurses and staff on 3 Broadway at HealthAlliance Hospital.
