John F. Gumaer Sr.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7.

A service will take place Thursday 11 AM at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.

John F, Gumaer, Sr., died peacefully with family by his side on December 12, 2025. John was born on November 16, 1949, in Kingston, NY, where he proudly lived his entire life.

John dedicated over 30 years of service to Diesing's Bakery before retiring. He was a devoted member of the Mendelssohn Club of Kingston for more than 50 years, serving as Treasurer for many of those years.

On August 28, 1971, John married the love of his life, Marlene Ann Brocco. Together they built a life centered around their family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Marlene Ann (Brocco), his son, John Gumaer, Jr. ("Jay"), his daughters, Karen Seery (Wes), and Kristin Gumaer (Bruce Nordenholt), six grandchildren – Alessandra, Cody, Emma, Zachary, Tyler, and Marley, his brother, Thomas Gumaer (Louise), many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his best friend, John Kruppa. He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Rosemary Gumaer, and his brother, William Gumaer.

John was an avid baker; traveler of the world and he loved music and sports. Above all else, he treasured attending the events and activities of his children and grandchildren, which brought him his greatest joy.

John graduated from Kingston High School in 1967, where he was a member of the Kingston High School Choir.

John's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his doctors, as well as the friends and family members who provided care and support throughout the years.
