Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday 4pm to 7pm.
The funeral procession forms Thursday 9am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10 am

John H. "Jack" Houghtaling, 88, of Greenkill Avenue, Kingston, NY died peacefully at HealthAlliance Hospital on Friday, May 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in Kingston, January 1st of 1937. A son of the late Henry and Annabelle (Maley) Houghtaling. Jack married Mary Ann Carle, his high school sweetheart. She predeceased him in 2008 after 50 years of loving marriage.
Jack Houghtaling grew up in Kingston, New York. As a young man, he was very active at the many diamonds and courts located throughout the city. Jack was a Kingston High School graduate and played baseball and basketball. He also ran track and field as a Kingston Tiger. At Utica College, he was a member of the basketball team. He also went on to play baseball for the triple A division as a pitcher. Jack was devoted to family and cherished his grandchildren. He had three additional passions, these include the Boston Red Sox, Saratoga for its harness racing, and golf.
Surviving him are his children, Margaret (Peggy) Bockelmann, and her husband Kevin, Marie (Houghtaling) Smith, and Michael Houghtaling and his partner Tom Wilson. His grandchildren include Kevin Jr. Bockelmann, David Bennett and his fiancé Mollie Stear, Sarah Bennett, and Olivia Smith, a sister in law Arlene Rion, and his canine buddy Duke. Also, his many nieces and nephews. Jack had a brother Henry "Hank" Houghtaling that predeceased him.
