Memorial services with military honors for Jack will be held privately.
John "Jack" Yaruso, 86, of Lake Katrine passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side Friday November 1, 2024 at Golden Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long hard battle with cancer. He was born November 17, 1937 in Freeland, Pennsylvania a son of the late Michael and Evelyn (Martonis) Yaruso.
Jack proudly served our country in the United States Army as Military Police in Korea. A talented woodworker, a union carpenter and completed his career with Marriott Hotels by building and constructing for their hospitality needs. In his retirement he enjoyed building models and in his earlier years was an avid fisherman. Jack was fortunate enough to reunite with his high school sweetheart, Terry, later in life and they were happily married for 22 years. They greatly enjoyed adventures together including trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland and several cruises. Most recently they enjoyed daily picnics looking at the boats passing on the Hudson River.
Surviving is his wife Miriam "Terri" Yaruso of Lake Katrine, stepchildren Teresa Madden and her husband Mike of Syracuse, Louis Hutter and his wife Nancy of Troy, Richard Hutter and his wife Catherine of Woodstock, Joan Keating and her husband Tim of Kingston, Jean Scott and her husband Richard of Averill Park, and Elizabeth Hutter of Lake Katrine. Many grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren, a brother Thomas Yaruso and his wife Louise of Raritan, New Jersey as well as one niece also survive.
Jack was extremely proud of serving our country. Any donations in his honor can be sent to the Ulster County Veterans Relief Fund at 5 Development Court
