Katherine "Kay" Wojcio , 86, of Kingston NY passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, following a brief illness.
One of her last statements was that she lived a good long life, knows how loved she is by her family, and was ready to be with God.
Born November 14, 1937 in Saugerties NY, to Francis Gardener and Mirielle Winchell; during her younger days she waitressed in the area and took pride in her reputation as a hard worker. It was also during this time met her husband of over 40 years. She served the community at her business, the Neighborhood General Store in Eddyville for over 25 years, where she made countless friends and acquaintances. She also proudly worked for many years in the Kingston School system lunch program.
Katherine loved to crochet and many can attest to receiving a beautiful handmade blanket from her. She also loved looking at old photos, spending time sitting at the park by the water, and most of all being with her family. Shopping was her favorite activity, and she could rarely go out in Kingston without striking up a conversation with someone. Spoiling her family was her favorite hobby. She was happiest in her kitchen cooking for her family and she could put together a family gathering like no other. Holidays and special occasions will never be the same.
Katherine loved her family unconditionally and was such a blessing; she was the glue to her family. She was sure to be there for every memory made and will be cherished forever.
She is Loved and adored by her family and so many! She is going to be greatly missed and will be remembered forever.
Katherine is survived by two sons, Steven and Jason (Karin) Wojcio; grandchildren Sirena (Jamal) Sanders, Sybil (Dan) Morley, Sonja (Matt) Heupler, Alan Wojcio, Tim (Bri) Wojcio, Steven & Christopher Kiel, Joshua, Jacob, & Jeremy Wojcio; great grandchildren Dessa Wojcio, Carson & Crosby Heupler, Lila & Zara Morley, Hazel Wojcio, Zion Sanders & bulldogs Beamer & Bentley. Also, her "angel on earth" and dear friend Deborah DeAngelis, brother Francis "Bud" Gardener of Kingston, and her cat Richard, who she rescued and kept her company.
She is predeceased by her parents, grandparents, her Loving Husband, Louis Wojcio, and two sons, Anthony Wojcio (Michele) and Stanley Wojcio.
