Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday September 12th from 10 AM until 12 noon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:30 PM at Immaculate Conception Church.
Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Kathleen Houghtaling, 87 , former longtime resident of Northfield Street in the Town of Ulster died Friday September 5, 2025 at TenBroeck Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 14, 1938 in Kingston a daughter of the late William and Helen (Simpson) Barry.
A registered nurse, Kathleen worked for many years at Kingston Hospital before finishing her career at the Kingston Ambulatory Surgical Center. A lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Kingston, Kathleen taught religious education, a member of the Rosary Society, and was a volunteer for Catholic Charities. Very active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians, she was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 5, Ulster County where she was dedicated to the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee for many years.
Surviving are her children Walter Houghtaling and his wife Paula, Kathleen Houghtaling and her husband Kenneth, Cynthia Maisch and her husband Wayne, Sheila Lanman and her husband Michael, Susan Gogg and her husband David, Paul Houghtaling and his significant other Joan. Grandchildren Elizabeth, Kellie, Mollie, Matthew, Keith, Emily, Conor, Riley, Reid and Callie. Nine great grandchildren, a brother Patrick Barry, sister Eileen McMullen, nieces and nephews as well as dear friends Kathleen and Donny Baum and Roseann and John Weber.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul Houghtaling and a sister Elizabeth Bibbo.
Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made in the form of contributions to the Ulster County SPCA or Alzheimers Association . The family would like to thank the Brookview and Esopus Units at TenBroeck for the care provided.
