Leo David Murray, Sr., 82, of Port Ewen passed away surrounded by his loved ones Sunday January 21, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was born January 5, 1942 in Ossining, a son of the late Leo Joseph and Constance (Buzzetto) Murray.
Leo attended St. Peter's School. He worked locally at Maple Block Company, Anderson School and Rotron for fifty years until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, hiking with family and friends. Leo was a member of the N.C.H.A- him and his family belonged to the No Name's Chapter. They also later joined the F.M.C.A camping club. He was a member of the Port Ewen Moose Lodge, and the moose mix bowling league. After retiring, he became a volunteer for the Port Ewen Fire Department as fire police. He loved traveling to NASCAR (Racing) events and old fashioned car shows. He watched rodeo, the cooking channel, and the evening news. He was a history buff, a very active man, hard worker, and provider that still managed to plan fun trips with his family and friends.
Surviving is his wife Carol Murray, his children, Leslie Murray (Jerome Faulcon), Jeannien Murray, Diane Smith, Leo David Murray, Jr. stepchildren Bruce Lucas, Nicki Lucas, Adam Lucas Grandchildren Aaron Buboltz, Ashley Townsend, Brandon Durkin, Daniel Townsend, Roxanne Smith, Jenna and Ciara Burgos. Cassie Lucas, Lex Lucas, Nicki Lucas, Ragen Lucas, Mia Lucas. Great grandchildren Autumn Boudreau, Suzie Townsend, Airela Townsend, Daniel Townsend Jr., Stanley Townsend, Ruby Rios-Smith and his beloved dog Bella.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by two wives Florence Elmore and Wilhelmina Murray and a daughter Susan Gephart.
