Lillian "Lili" Knapp passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024 at Ten Broeck Center at the age of 103.
She was born in Glasco on March 17, 1921, the fifth child and fourth daughter of Michael and Theresa DeCicco Misasi. Having escaped death at age 13, after a year fighting a burst appendix, she managed to live another 90 years.
On July 20, 1941 she married the love of her live, Eugene Knapp, Jr. They spent almost 59 years together before he died in 2000.
After graduating from Saugerties High School in 1938, she worked at Jay-Rich shirt factory in Kingston as well as other jobs. Though primarily a homemaker and stay-at-home Mom, she worked at times as a bookkeeper and representative of Grace China.
A devout Catholic, Lili belonged to the former St. Joseph's Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She loved music and dancing, the newspaper Jumble, and keeping up with current events. Her family always took first place. She adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren and loved spending time with her sisters. Being with family always brought her the greatest joy of her life!
Lili was also known to everyone as a fashion plate. Always put together with "perfect" hair and a scarf to match every outfit.
Beloved wife of the late Eugene Knapp, Jr.; loving mother of Eugene of Kingston and his partner Jeff Baltes of Latham; sister of Frank Misasi of Kingston, Geri Crowder of Glasco, Jeanne Crowley of Saugerties, and Janet Shanley of Poughkeepsie and the late Joseph Misasi and Michael Missasi, Mary Sottile, Rose Perry Risimini, Josephine Palumbo, Julia Contini, Theresa "Dolly" Mauro and Caroline Misasi; grandmother of Jeffrey (Shanna) Knapp of Hurley, and Erica (Christine) Knapp-Gagnon of Tillson; great grandmother of Gabriella and Samantha Knapp and Mila Knapp-Gagnon, former mother in law of Jackie Benjamin, and a myriad of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Robert J. Gaus, Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, Catskill.
