A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 19th 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Kingston.
Burial will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
Marie A. Aidala, 102, of Kingston passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 15, 1921, in Kingston, daughter of the late Louis and Margaret Lang. She grew up and lived in Ponckhockie, graduated St. Mary's School in 1934, and was a member of the Kingston High School Class of 1938. Marie was a graduate of the Kingston Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 and began her career in healthcare.
Marie completed her nursing training at Bellevue Hospital in New York City and worked locally at both the Benedictine and Kingston Hospitals in the operating rooms and as an assistant nursing supervisor. She also worked private duty as an OB Nurse and was also employed by the Albany Avenue Nursing Home as well as the Wilmington Delaware Hospital. She was a member of the New York State Nurses Association and Kingston Hospital Alumni Association.
Marie married Frank A. Aidala in 1942 at St. Mary's Church in Kingston. While raising her family, she was active in Girl Scouts and Little League, and worked Bingo at St. Joseph's Church where she was a parishioner for many years. Marie was also a volunteer at the City of Kingston Visitor's Center.
Surviving are her children: Gary Aidala and companion Kate Luther of Kingston; Donna Brady of Town of Ulster; James Aidala and his wife Desiree of Davenport, IA; Alan Aidala of Kingston; Ann Policastro and her husband Albert of Hurley; and Paul Aidala and his wife Mary of Dallas, TX; grandchildren: Michael and Lindsay Aidala; Kyley Brady-Faulkner; Shane Aidala and his wife Chelsea; Cody Aidala and his wife Tori; Brianna Wojcio and her husband Timothy; Shea Policastro; Ava and Samantha Aidala; Alison Kendall and her husband Robert; and Scott Ricketson and his wife Christine. Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Brady and Evan Faulkner, Eva Kendall, Macie and Dylan Aidala, Anthony Aidala, Hazel Wojcio, and Carter Ricketson. A brother, Peter Lang and his wife Margaret, Marie's former daughter-in-law Judy Aidala, and many nieces and nephews also survive her.
Marie's husband Frank A. Aidala predeceased her in 2014. She was also predeceased by son-in-law William R. Brady and great-granddaughter Lillie Aidala.
While living at The Birches at Chambers, Marie made many good friends. The family is grateful for the companionship they gave Marie. The family would also like to thank Marie's wonderful caretakers, RCAL and Hospice for their kindness and extraordinary care.
