Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday July 24th from 4-6 PM.

A funeral procession will form 10 AM Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Kingston.

Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery

Marquita ("Angie") Rich , beloved wife and mother, unexpectedly passed away on the morning of July 19th, 2023 in the arms of her husband at their home. She was 75 years old.

Angie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Michael Rich, and her six children; Dr. Maeva Rich Kennedy and her husband Matthew Kennedy of Connecticut, Mercy M. Rich of NYC, Michael J. Rich, Jr of NYC, Matthew D. Rich and his wife Cassandra of Florida, Mary J. Rich, Esq of NYC, and Mark P. Rich of Rosendale. Angie is also survived by three adoring grandchildren; Laila, Brendan, and Dean as well as another grandchild expected in November of this year.

Affectionately known as "Angie," Angie was born on May 28, 1948 in New York City. In her youth, Angie was an aspiring model and performer winning "Class Actress" in her senior year at Forest Hills High School in Queens, NY. Upon graduation from high school, Angie matriculated to NYU and worked as a Page in the coveted NBC Page Program. During this time in her life, Angie made an impact as a performer off Broadway and in other acting endeavors. She stunned as a finalist in the "Miss Subway" Contest, was featured in national ad campaigns for Pepsi and Dannon Yogurt and acted in popular television shows like, Hawaii Five-O and Kojak.

In the early 1970's Angie summered in Woodstock, NY and worked as a yoga teacher. She met her husband, Michael in 1975 while in Woodstock. After winning a dance contest together at the now defunct Joyous Lake, the two became inseparable as partners and loved each other deeply. Angie and Michael married, solidifying their bond in life and went on to create a warm and boisterous family of eight.

Angie was a fierce "mama bear" who supported and loved her family unconditionally. She and her husband Michael worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their six children throughout their lives together. Angie would proudly boast about the accomplishments of her children and always welcomed them home during the holidays with home cooked meals and her famous chocolate chip cookies.

While Angie was navigating a growing family, she always heralded the importance of education and modeled for her children those same expectations. Angie successfully obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from SUNY New Paltz and obtained her Paralegal Certificate from Marist College.

Angie was also a skilled musician trained in classical and jazz guitar as well as voice. Angie could often be found humming any given tune from Bach to Maroon 5 with her beautiful and soothing voice. Angie's creativity and talent also lended itself to crafting, wreath making, crocheting and a true expertise in long arm quilting. Angie's intricate and elegant quilts garnered recognition and awards in the Tri-State area as well as among well-known quilting competitions and expos in Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. Angie previously held the role of Treasurer of the Wiltwyck Quilters Guild and was a member of the American Quilter's Society.

Above all though, Angie was strongly rooted in her Catholic faith and was deeply involved in her church community. Angie was a member of St. John's Parish in Woodstock, NY for nearly 20 years. While at St. John's, Angie created, formed and ran the Children's Choir at the 11:30 am mass. Every Sunday for years, Angie sang and strummed her guitar accompanied by her daughters who played violin and her other children who sang in the choir. Upon transitioning to Kingston, Angie joined St. Joseph's Parish. Over the last 20 years at St. Joseph's, she was an equally active parishioner. Angie was a Lector, a Eucharistic Minister and a well-loved religious education teacher who was known to play the guitar, sing songs and provide cookies to the children in her class weekly.

Angie's faith was so strong that she often shared that she was not afraid to die and knew that a greater world existed beyond this one.
She has been called, unexpectedly, but we aim to take comfort in her faith and the unconditional love of her family.
