Marvin "Dap" Cole

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday January 16th from 9 AM until 11 AM.

A funeral service will take place at 11 AM.

Burial with military honors will follow at Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery.

Marvin "Dap" Cole, 98 , formerly of Blacks Road died Monday January 6, 2025 at TenBroeck Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Lake Katrine. He was born February 3, 1926 in Kingston, a son of the late Frederick and Maude (Wilson) Cole. Dap served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He returned home and worked as a lineman for Central Hudson, serving as shop steward for twenty-five years until his retirement.

An avid sportsman and woodworker, Dap was a life member of the Rondout Valley Rod and Gun Club,and was awarded member of the year, and received the Pride of Ulster County Award for Sportsman of the Year in 2000. Marvin was active in Ducks Unlimited and designed the patches for NYS Duck Calling competition sponsored by Ulster County in the 1980's. He was also a member of the Northeastern Woodworkers Association, the NRA, the VFW Post 1386 and American Legion Post 150.

He was predeceased by his wives Margaret (Garrett) Cole and Lois (Houser) Cole, and siblings Charles Henry Cole and Marion Postma.

Survivors include Beverly Tomasino, daughter of Lois Cole, and Lenore and Daniel Tomasino; nephews Ronald Cole, Wesley Cole, and niece Grace (Cole) Ogden, as well as Great nephews Charles and Michael Cole, and Sean and Nicholas Ogden.

As a burn victim in WWII, Marvin had particular empathy for children suffering burn wounds. In lieu of
