Mary M. Blanschan, 85, of Ulster Park passed away Saturday June 17, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born January 22, 1938 in Rochester, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Spahn.

Mary worked as a bus driver for most of her adult life. She began her career with Ethan Allen Transportation, and then drove for Laidlaw and then First Student, ultimately retiring after nearly forty years. Mary will be remembered by her family as a loving mother and doting grandmother. She loved the outdoors and in her earlier years spending time outside with her late husband, whether it was fishing or spending time in Norwich.

Surviving are her children Noreen Blanschan and her companion Ernie Wiebke, Karen Blanschan, and Peter Blanschan Jr., Grandchildren, Erik Mergendahl and companion Nikki Philips,  Chrishtan Smith and companion Dehana Weed, James and Jessica Henry;  great grandsons, Donvan Ford, Donald Bloomer, James J. Griffin-Henry, Thomas Weed and great granddaughters Cayleigh Philips, Sophia Nicole Smith, Madelyn Mergendahl. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She is predeceased by her husband, Peter Blanschan, Sr., brothers Joseph & Robert and a daughter Dawn Mergendahl.
